In response to an increasing demand for OTR tyres in Middle East Africa, Magna Tyres has opened its newest office in Kolkata City.

The location, situated in eastern India, is its first in the country and will manage the needs of customers across India as well as offer a greater reach and focus. Overseeing the facility will be new country manager Akash Gupta. 

Gupta comes to Magna with more than a decade of experience in the tyre industry, specialising in the mining and OTR segments. In the past, he has been associated with various leading tyre brands in India, Ghana and in the African market.

“Our decision to operate from Kolkata was mainly due to the region’s proximity to seaport and mining belt in the industry,” MD Michael de Ruijter said. 

“In course, Magna Tyres plans to open offices in all the major cities in South, West and Northern India. The future looks bright, as India represents a highly attractive OTR market with an estimated US$2.7 billion turnover in 2023 and a recorded 5.5-cent growth in the construction and mining sectors.”
