Organisers of the WA Mining Conference and Exhibition in Australia have announced the cancellation of the event for 2021.

The host cited ongoing border closures in Western Australia for pulling the plug on the gathering, as well as the country’s COVID status.

“Following extensive consultation with our customers, we have made the difficult but appropriate decision not to hold the WA Mining Conference in 2021. In the context of the extended border closures between the eastern states and Western Australia which is impacting a significant number of exhibitors, sponsors and speakers, there is uncertainty over whether restrictions would be eased in time,” it said.

The conference and exhibition will be returning in 2022; organisers said next year’s dates are 12 October through 13 October.

“We fully understand and appreciate the desire of the industry to return to face-to-face events and we will do our utmost to help all our customers, partners and attendees to prepare for the 2022 dates,” the host said.
