Metso Outotec has confirmed it won an order for an environmentally sound iron ore pelletising plant for Beijing Shougang International Engineering Technology (BSIET) in southwestern China.
The financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.
The scope of delivery of the plant includes the engineering and design of the indurating system, the engineering of the process gas fan system, supply of proprietary and key process equipment, instrumentation and control systems.
The core of the plant is Metso Outotec’s traveling grate pellet indurating furnace with a grate area of 432 square metres.
The OEM will also oversee supervisory services and technical training for the customer’s staff.
“We are … looking forward to working with the customer operating the steel plant and our long-term partner BSIET,” said Tobias Stefan, vice president for the Ferrous and Heat Transfer business line.
Stefan added that it is the second pelletising plant contract for a Chinese customer in six months.
Pellet production at the plant is projected to begin by mid-2022.
