Rio Tinto has selected Jakob Stausholm, who most recently served as its executive director and chief financial officer, as its new chief executive.
The appointment is effective 1 January 2021.
Stausholm, with more than 25 years of leadership experience, has been with Rio Tinto since 2018. Prior to joining Rio Tinto, he was group chief financial officer and strategy & transformation officer of A.P. Moeller – Maersk A/S.
His earlier experiences included CFO of ISS A/S and chief internal auditor for Royal Dutch Shell.
Peter Cunningham will be appointed the producer’s interim chief financial officer effective the same date. He was previously its group controller.
J-S Jacques will step down from his role as executive director and chief executive on 1 January as well. He will leave the company entirely on 31 March.
