An innovative app to accompany Haver Australia’s Pro-Deck approach was launched at AIMEX. The app is based on the Pro-Deck approach, which implements an analysis and modification strategy in mineral processing operations, to maximize screen productivity and minimize wear.

The method is a consultative approach, which results in an optimized screening process for greater efficiency and productivity, while reducing unscheduled maintenance, blinding, pegging and extending screen life.

Haver Australia business development manager Steffen Silge says the Pro-Deck App is used to challenge a client’s current screens against Haver & Tyler screen media. “It is a simple way for customers to identify existing challenges that exist with the current screen media, with the assistance of one of our experts.

“The Pro-Deck App highlights where Haver & Tyler screen media is expected to outperform the client’s existing media in terms of wear life, open area, anti-pegging and anti-blinding. The customer can use results from the app to weigh up the proposed benefits that the app has identified to determine what changes need to be made to their screen media.

“Following the assessment using the app we even offer a detailed technical appraisal based on the company’s Pro-Deck approach to new clients, which is carried out by one of our qualified service technicians, following the use of the app to further evaluate what changes are necessary to improve the clients’ screening application,” Steffen Silge says.

The appointment for the technical appraisal can be scheduled after the results from the app has been received.

Haver Australia’s Pro-Deck approach is not based on a set formula or traditional method, as it often involves incorporating more than one type of screen media. “The approach involves an on-site visit to look at the vibrating screens,” he says.

“Our certified Pro-Deck technician will carry out a professional analysis in order to determine the best mix of screen media for each individual operation using our signature wireless vibration analysis system to monitor and analyse speed, stroke as well as overall performance.

“Following the inspection of the key machine components including the body, drive and mounting system, the technician examines the vibrating screen for interference or loose components. An analysis of the bearing temperature, feed material and the screen media is also carried out. The expert on-site then determines the critical decks and sections within the screen.”

Based on the performance of the screen and wear experienced on sections of the deck, the technical expert from Haver will make a recommendation regarding screen media modification.

The Pro-Deck approach also evaluates material characteristics, the performance of the vibrating screen, and final output qualities, to ensure the best blending of screen media.

“Once the new screen media is installed, the results are measured and documented, with a focus placed on the next section of screen media,” Steffen Silge says. “As each phase of screening works differently, a customized approach assists to tailor the right type of screen media to each of the three phases – layered, basic and sharp screening, to maximize open area and wear life.”

Adjustments to the screen media are made one section at the time, with results closely monitored to ensure the highest quality output and maximum productivity.
