PHILIPPINES - Strong interest from possible Agata partners

Mindoro Resources says it has received strong interest from potential partners for its Agata Nickel Project on the Surigao Peninsula of Mindanao. The company announced in November 2011 it would seek a strategic partner to pursue and finance the project after scoping and feasibility studies confirmed it could host a low-cost high-value mine with a 20-year operating life.

PHILIPPINES - Tampakan enviro certificate returned

The Mine Environmental Compliance Certificate for the Tampakan Copper-Gold Project has been denied by the Philippine Government’s Environmental Management Bureau and returned to project operator Sagittarius Mines for resubmission once the issue of an open pit mining ban by the Provincial Government is clarified and resolved. 1

PHILIPPINES - TVI wins injunction against ordinance ban

TVI Pacific’s Philippines affiliate TVI Resource Development has claimed its first win in the fight to overturn a government ban on open-pit mining in the Philippines’ Zamboanga del Norte province, with a preliminary injunction granted. The court order stops the implementation of the ordinance and allows TVI to continue its operations without legal impediment while the main case to argue the legality of the ban is in court.
