FIJI - Amex appoints Engenium for iron sands BFS

Australian project delivery company Engenium has been awarded an Aus$1 million contract to complete a bankable feasibility study (BFS) for Fiji’s first iron ore mine. Amex Resources’ Mba Delta iron sands project is located on Fiji’s main island, Viti Levu, covering 120sqkm of magnetite rich iron sands in the northwest region.

INDIA - MPSEZ turns on coal conveyor

India’s largest private sector port, the Mundra Port and Special Economic Zone (MPSEZ) on India’s west coast has started supplying coal via a 20km conveyor belt. The conveyor runs between the West Basin bulk coal handling terminal and a power plant at a speed of 6000 tonnes per hour. 1

INDONESIA - Asia Resources begins trial production

Processing of an initial 5000 tonnes of raw iron sand from Asia Resources Holdings’ mine in East Java is under way. The company’s subsidiary PT Dampar Golden International began trial production two weeks ago, and has kicked off a marketing campaign both locally and internationally to target customers for its iron sand.
