Marengo Mining has further strengthened its executive management team, appointing a new national manager for its Papua New Guinea operations. Stevie TS Nion will take the lead role in moving the company towards possible development of its flagship Yandera copper-molybdenum-gold project in central Madang province. The project hosts a measured and indicated 362 million tonnes @ 0.43% copper.
Stevie Nion is a geologist by profession and has more than 30 years’ experience in the country’s mining industry, holding a number of senior government positions including chief government geologist and director of the geological survey.
Marengo’s managing director Les Emery says, “We are very pleased to have Stevie join the Marengo management team at a crucial phase in the company’s development, as it moves to complete the feasibility study on Yandera. With extensive experience in the PNG mining industry, particularly as a senior public servant in the mining sector, Stevie will add a new dimension to the skill base of Marengo’s management.”
Stevie Nion will be based in the company’s recently opened Port Moresby office and will be responsible for managing corporate affairs in PNG. The crucial part of the role will be to progress matters with PNG national and provincial government departments and agencies, strategic partners, and other stakeholders.
