Precious metals company Sino Prosper State Gold Resources has appointed a new chief geologist to join its management team. Kar Fai Leung is the author of many technical publications about geologic structures in China, and a member of the Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Geological Societies of London and Hong Kong.
A subsidiary of China Shen Zhou Mining & Resources has become one of the first domestic fluorite companies to meet government standards for its production lines. Xinyi Fluorite is based in Jingde County, Anhui province, and has one of 10 production lines meeting the Ministry of Industry and Informational Technology (MIIT) standards.

Delegates at the 18th annual Coaltrans Asia conference have been urged to participate in the development of renewable energy production in Indonesia. The forum was held in Nusa Dua, Bali, from June 4-6. Indonesian Energy and Mineral Resources minister Jero Wacik officially opened the conference and asked coal entrepreneurs to investigate alternate power sources to invest in.
