MONGOLIA - Democratic Party gains more votes

Mongolian election officials say the opposition Democratic Party has captured more votes than the ruling Mongolian People’s Party in last Thursday’s parliamentary election, but not the required majority. The Democratic Party is expected to win most seats in the 76-seat parliament, but will have to form a coalition. Official results are due within 14 days of the election.  1

MONGOLIA - Drilling to commence at Chandman-Yol

Drilling will commence at the Chandman-Yol copper-gold porphyry project in western Mongolia after Altan Rio Minerals secured a contractor for the work. The 3000 metre diamond drill program will target two high-priority targets which were identified during the company’s field work in 2011 and have not been drilled before.

MONGOLIA - Erdene separates American and Mongolian interests

Two public companies are being developed from a break-up of Erdene Resource Development. Advanced Primary Minerals (APM) will acquire all of Erdene’s North America interests which are comprised primarily of its stake in the Donkin Coal Project. Erdene shareholders will receive APM shares in consideration for the sale along with 60% of the issued and outstanding APM shares currently owned by Erdene.  1
