Dr Ya-Qin Zhang |
Fortescue Metals Group has appointed Dr Ya-Qin Zhang to the Board of Directors of the Company as a Non-Executive Director, effective 1 September 2019.
Dr Zhang is currently President of Baidu, a leading Chinese multinational technology company, and will retire from that position in October 2019.
During his five years with Baidu, Dr Zhang has led various key functions including technology infrastructure, consumer business, marketing and government relationships, and new business initiatives including finance, education, cloud computing, autonomous driving and global business.

The Board of ABB has unanimously appointed Björn Rosengren, as Chief Executive Officer. He will join ABB on February 1, 2020 and succeed CEO, Peter Voser, in this role on March 1, 2020. At that time Peter Voser will revert to his position at ABB solely as Chairman of the Board.
Björn Rosengren is a highly experienced, international executive and leader of industrial businesses. He has been the CEO of Sandvik, a high-tech global engineering group, since 2015. During this time, he has overseen the successful implementation of a decentralised structure and improved both the profitability and financial strength of Sandvik.

Barrick Gold announced that it has appointed Loreto Silva to the Company’s Board of Directors as an independent Director.
An accomplished legal professional, academic and consultant, Ms Silva is Chile’s former Minister of Public Works and the current chairperson of the board of ENAP, the country’s national petroleum company. She is also a partner at the Chilean law firm of Bofill Escobar Silva Abogados.
Loreto started her career as a lawyer for the Chilean Chamber of Construction where she helped develop the country’s sanitary and public works concession systems. She specialised in public works concession contracts, competition, water resource management as well as the development of electric, sanitary and infrastructure projects.
Copper North mining
Copper North Mining announced the appointments of Sue Craig and Doug Ramsey to its Board of Directors, and retirement of Dr Harlan Meade from the Board.
Ms Craig is a professional geoscientist, who has worked in BC and Yukon for over 25 years on projects from the exploration and development stage, to construction and production, and final mine closure. Ms Craig served for six years as President/CEO and Director of Northern Freegold and more recently was the Advisor for Sustainability in the Yukon for Newmont. She is also currently VP Community and Environment for Kutcho Copper and an advisor to the Social, Environmental and Regulatory Affairs Team of the Galore Creek Mining Corporation.
Mr Ramsey is the President and CEO of Copper North, with over 37 years of professional experience in the mining industry.
Over this time, he has worked at all stages of the mining cycle, from grassroots exploration through project planning, environmental permitting, and construction, to mine operations and site closure on projects across Canada and internationally.
He joined Copper North as Vice-President, Sustainability and Environmental Affairs, in February 2012 to work on the re-engineering and environmental permitting of the Carmacks Project and develop relationships with indigenous stakeholders.
Dr Meade joined Copper North in March 2014, and for almost 5 years directed all his efforts to positioning Copper North for success.
Southern Gold
Bee jay Kim
South Korean senior executive, Mr Bee Jay Kim, has joined the Board of Southern Gold.
Mr Kim has extensive project delivery and team management experience both in South Korea and abroad.
Mr Kim has also been appointed to a full-time role as Executive Director – South Korea based in South Korea.
Mr Kim has had a long career with Samsung C&T Corporation and Hyundai Engineering and Construction division spanning approximately 30 years. As a senior executive for Samsung C&T, Mr Kim led projects in several countries and regions including the Middle East, Australia and South East Asia. This includes more recent positions of Vice President and Regional Representative of Saudi Arabia LLC and Head of MENA Regional Office in the UAE for Samsung C&T.

Mark Strizek
Lithium Australia has announced the appointment of Mark Strizek to the position of Manager – Raw Materials.
Mr Strizek is a resource industry professional with over 20 years in the industry. He brings a wealth of experience in technology metals, specifically in whole of cycle; exploration, resource development, feasibility, finance and development ready assets in Australia, Africa and Europe.
Great Panther Mining
Jeffrey R Mason
Great Panther Mining has appointed Jeffrey R Mason as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Company. He will succeed RW (Bob) Garnett who will remain on the Board.
Mr Garnett has served as a Director of the Company since 3 May, 2011 and as Chair of the Board of Great Panther since 6 February, 2012 and has brought a wealth of experience in corporate governance, financial expertise and general business experience.
Following the acquisition of the Tucano Gold Mine earlier in the year, it was felt that Mr Mason’s blend of governance, finance and mining experience made him a natural successor for the role of Chair.
As one of the founding partners of the Hunter-Dickinson Group, he has been senior executive and director of multiple mining companies, and currently serves on the boards of Auryn Resources and Torq Resources.
Since joining Great Panther’s Board in May 2014, Mr Mason has played an active role on various committees including most recently as the chair of the special committee developing the strategic direction of the Company and overseeing acquisitions and integration.

Guyana Goldstrike is pleased to announce the appointment of Donald J Birak, as Technical Advisor to the Board of Directors.
Mr Birak will advise the Company on all technical matters relating to the exploration and development of the Marudi Gold Project located in the Guiana Shield, Guyana, South America.
In accepting this position, Mr Birak will be transitioning from his current Board role, where he has served three years, to his new position as technical advisor.

Mining and Mineral Industries Holding
Mining and Mineral Industries Holding Pte. Ltd. (MMIH) has welcomed Joel Dolorfino Muyco and Peter Flindell to the Company.
Mr Muyco has been appointed as a Non-Executive Director of MMIH and Mr Flindell will be appointed as an Independent Director of MMIH.
Mr Muyco is a renowned Geologist with more than 50 years of experience. He was formerly the Director at Minerals and Geosciences Bureau in the Philippines and held various position in the Government as well as private sector.
Mr Muyco was the Representative (Elected) in the United Nations Economic and Social Council on the Committee on Natural Resources and the Under Secretary (OIC) of the Environment and Research Office under the Philippines’ Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR). He had authored innumerable publications and papers on the mining industry in Philippines and is a speaker at international forums on mining and geology.
Mr Flindell is an Australian geologist with over 33 years of experience in minerals exploration and feasibility studies.
He has worked in senior exploration, resource development and management roles, and led teams to discover, develop and expand several gold and copper mines in Southeast Asia, Central Asia, West Africa, Europe and Central America.
His experience also extends to base metal and iron ore projects.
Mr Flindell is also currently an Independent Director on the Board of Global Drilling and Exploration Group.

Jan Lüder will be appointed CEO of the Mining Technologies business unit at thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions AG, effective 1 November 2019.
He will succeed Torsten Gerlach, who is leaving the company.
Alongside his new role, Jan Lüder will remain CEO of the thyssenkrupp AG Asia Pacific Regional Headquarters and CEO of the Lead Local Office of the Industrial Solutions business area in Southeast Asia for a transition period up to 30 June 2020.
Before joining thyssenkrupp, Mr Lüder gained extensive experience in responsible management positions at various international plant engineering and technology companies including Primetals Technologies China, Siemens Ltd. China, Siemens VAI Oesterreich and Siemens AG in Germany and Malaysia.

Craig Bradshaw
Genesis Minerals has appointed a highly experienced Australian mining executive, Craig Bradshaw, to its board as a non-executive Director, effective immediately.
Mr Bradshaw has more than 22 years’ experience in the Australian and international mining industry and brings high-level operational and corporate experience to the Company’s Board, which Genesis considers invaluable as it continues to add value to its existing portfolio of WA gold projects.
A graduate of the world-renowned WA School of Mines, Mr Bradshaw is a mining engineer who has held numerous senior operational and executive roles with a range of companies spanning several different commodities.
Prior to joining Genesis, Mr Bradshaw was Chief Operating Officer for Saracen Mineral Holdings.

Grant Mills
Kingsrose Mining has informed the ASX that Grant Mills has submitted his resignation as a Director of the Company, effective as of 30 November 2019 and that the Company has accepted his resignation.
Mr Mills, who has been a Director of Kingsrose since August 2017, plans to focus on development of his various personal business interests.
Interim Chairman Dr Mike Andrews thanked Mr Mills for his dedication to the Company and his assistance in implementing the operational strategy.
