Kalimantan Gold regains 100% of KSK

KALIMANTAN Gold has regained 100% control of its KSK Contract of Work copper project in Kalimantan. This occurred after the company received notice of intention to cease sole funding and to withdraw from the joint venture agreement made in April 2011 by its joint venture partner, Surya Kencana LLC, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Freeport-McMoRan Exploration Corporation.

Martabe gold production exceeds targets

THE mine and process plant at G-Resources’ Martabe Gold-Silver Project in North Sumatra continues to operate well with gold production still exceeding target and costs continuing to be lowered. During 2013 the mine produced 281,477 ounces of gold and more than 1.5 million ounces of silver. Gold production exceeded the mine base operating plan of 250,000 ounces and also the revised guidance provided in July 2013 of 280,000 ounces.

Feasibility study for Direct Nickel plant

DIRECT Nickel Limited (DNi) has started a feasibility study for the first commercial-scale DNI Process nickel processing plant. The study is taking place at PT Antam’s Buli operation in Halmahera led by a joint Antam/DNi team and DNi expects it to be completed in early 2015.

Wärtsilä to power peaking gas plant

FINNISH company Wärtsilä has been contracted to supply the engineering and equipment for a new power plant under construction in Indonesia. The Arun project is being handled on a fast-track basis with the plant scheduled to be in full operation in March 2015. The contract was signed in the third quarter of 2013.
