THE fourth Coal Club Indonesia (CCI) networking event held in Palembang, South Sumatra, on November 19 was a big success with 61 registrations, including government representatives, mining industry professionals and senior management, and investors in South Sumatra. It was the second time the club has been held in a regional venue and the event attracted a number of newcomers.

South Sumatra is an emerging coal region of Indonesia and the networking event was held following the one-day Prelude to the Sumatra Miner Conference & Exhibition 2014. As such, there was no guest speaker and this provided greater opportunities for attendees to exchange information and ideas with each other.

The Guest of Honour, who welcomed guests to the event at the Aryaduta Hotel, was Deputy Mayor of the City Of Palembang. Coal Club organizers are grateful to the Office of the Mayor, the Office of the Governor of the Province of South Sumatra, the office of the Ministry of Energy & Mining and the Office of Investment Coorodinating Board of South Sumatra for their support and for making the event possible.

CCI events support the coal industry in Indonesia and enable business introductions, business match-making and for business deals to be transacted in a comfortable yet focused atmosphere. Local, joint venture and outright foreign companies are welcome to participate in the networking events.

The fourth event saw more local/domestic company attendees than for any other event this year. It is hoped that the event also provided support to local coal mining initiatives in South Sumatra province.

As these events are held for the benefit of the coal industry in Indonesia, CCI’s success depends on industry participation through sponsorship, affiliations and attendance. Organizers invite all to support the only Coal Club of Indonesia.

Sincere thanks goes to CCI sponsors and the inaugural organizing committee, who look forward to meeting you at forthcoming CCI events. CCI, Djakarta Mining Club and the Sumatra Miner Conference and Exhibition 2014 are organized by Mining Media International (MMI), publishers of The ASIA Miner, Coal Age Indonesia and Engineering & Mining Journal.

The next Coal Club Indonesia will be held on February 18, 2014 from 6.30 to 9pm with the venue to be announced.
