The ManpowerGroup Employment Outlook Survey, conducted quarterly to measure Australian employers’ intentions to increase or decrease the number of employees in their workforces during a quarter, has released its findings for the first quarter of 2018.

TAM Dec21 03According to the survey, mining and construction sectors are leading the way across all states and territories in the Australian job market, with sector employers reporting the strongest hiring intentions of a Net Employment Outlook gain of 23% – a 16% increase from last year.

At an international level, Japan and Australia have both shown strong growth in the mining and construction sectors, with hiring confidence in Japan remaining solid with employers reporting the most optimistic forecast since fourth quarter 2007.

Australia’s first-quarter forecast, on the other hand, is the strongest reported by employers in more than six years.
