Metso Outotec has released its newest product, the Filter Optimizer, to enhance the performance of its Larox PF filter for mining and chemical applications.
The new release, the company said, improves the performance by giving more precise control over the solid-liquid separation process, and stabilises the impact of upstream process variations. Additionally, it offers tools for an improved process control and reduces need for manual intervention.
Among the Filter Optimizer’s other benefits: maximised productivity with an optimised filter cycle; optimised energy consumption; consistent residual cake moisture; flexible filter operation and control even under changing process conditions; and improved process visibility.
In mining applications, the Filter Optimizer serves as a complement to Metso Outotec’s other control solutions for concentrator plants such as the Grinding Optimizer, Flotation Optimizer and Thickener Optimizer.
“The Filter Optimizer enables automatic adjustment of filtration as well as pressing and air drying setpoints based on filter performance; compressed air usage is optimised in the controlled air-drying sequence, resulting in optimised energy consumption,” said Leena Tanttu, senior manager for process and testing of filters.
“The new Filter Optimizer automatically adjusts the filter’s process performance, adapting to upstream process variations. Instead of relying on manual moisture sampling and cake-weight monitoring, new setpoints are calculated on the go and adjusted automatically.”
The new product has remote connectivity for OEM support, and also an integrated historical database to provide process visibility and allow for evaluation of performance.
