CAMBODIA - Mining application submitted for Phum Syarung

Angkor Gold Corp announces that Mesco Gold has submitted the mining application for the Phum Syarung Gold Project to Cambodia’s Ministry of Mining and Energy (MME). The application is the next step for Mesco to receive the mining licence so that production can begin at Phum Syarung. It is expected to take about 6 months for MME to reach its decision.  1

INDONESIA - Antam says gold may help offset nickel ban

State-owned miner PT Aneka Tambang (Antam) is targeting a 30% rise in gold sales this year which it hopes will ease the impact of a new nickel ore export ban. A step-up in gold sales, however, may have limited impact on the company’s ability to service debt, even as its credit rating is at risk of being downgraded by ratings agencies.  1

MONGOLIA - Oyu Tolgoi meets production guidance

Turquoise Hill Resources produced 76,700 tonnes of copper in concentrates in 2013 at the Oyu Tolgoi Copper-Gold Project in southern Mongolia, and copper and gold in concentrates were 8% and 18% respectively higher in the fourth quarter compared to the third quarter. Concentrator throughput in December 2013 was above target.  1

MONGOLIA - SouthGobi production figures

SouthGobi Resources produced 1.73 million tonnes of coal from its Ovoot Tolgoi mine in southern Mongolia during the final quarter of 2013, up from 1.13 million tonnes in the previous quarter. Production for the year was 3.06 million tonnes compared to 1.33 million tonnes in 2012.
