Temporary power and temperature control supply provider Aggreko has appointed a new name to take charge of its Australia, New Zealand and Pacific Islands operations.

George Whyte is the company’s new managing director for the Australia-Pacific region and will be responsible for leading the continued geographical expansion of Aggreko. He is also charged with overseeing ongoing development of the company’s power and temperature control offerings to key customer segments in mining, oil and gas, utilities, major events and industrial construction.

“I’m excited to be leading Aggreko’s business in Australia and the Pacific as these markets further mature and as we navigate the changing landscape of the respective local economies. Customers in our core markets are looking closely at how they can minimize cost while maximizing value. We have to be more conscious than ever of delivering value and delighting our customers through providing unparalleled levels of quality and service,” he says.

George Whyte has worked with Aggreko in Australia for 13 years in a range of capacities, from sales consultant to area general manager for Australia’s south region taking in New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia. He will replace Asterios Satrazemis who has been appointed in the position of regional director of Aggreko Americas, responsible for the company’s operations in North, Central and South America.

Aggreko employs more than 4500 people operating from 165 locations. In 2011 the company served customers across 100 countries, providing power and temperature control solutions very quickly, or for short or indeterminate lengths of time.

Recent customers include the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games and the power utilities in more than 50 countries including the UK, France, Angola, Kenya, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Venezuela, Chile, Brazil and the USA.
