West-Australian based Philippines gold producer Medusa Mining has appointed two new faces to its Board, Gary Powell and Raul Villanueva.
Gary Powell has been appointed a non-executive director, bringing extensive Philippines operating experience to the Board. He has recently been overseeing the resource drilling at the company’s Bananghilig project and will continue to consult to the company as required.
He is a geologist with more than 30 years’ experience in West Australia, Central Asia and in the Philippines since 1997. Among the companies Gary has worked for is AIM-listed Metals Exploration, where he managed the progressing of the 1.39 million gold ounce Runruno project in the Philippines, which is now moving towards construction.
Attorney Raul Villanueva has been appointed an executive director following his appointment as president of the company’s Philippines operating company Philsaga Mining Corporation in December 2012, after the retirement of Samuel Afdal.
Raul Villanueva has been a member of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines and an Attorney and Counsellor-at-Law since 1994. He brings a focused approach to improving the operating systems and professionalism of the company, based on his education and several years of experience in law as well as managing companies and will work to further align the objectives of the Medusa Group of Companies.
