After three months of drought in New Zealand interrupted drilling, Glass Earth Gold has started its 2013 diamond drill program at WKP Gold-Silver Project in the Hauraki Region of North Island. WKP is a joint venture between Glass Earth and Newmont, which operates the nearby Martha Hill mine.
The joint venture has also received results of two more drill holes from the previous campaign at WKP. The holes carry modest grade intersections and results bring useful structural and mineralized system information about WKP while also contributing to the narrowing down of targets for the 2013 drilling campaign.
Results from one hole include 1.1 metres from 250.8 metres @ 1.25 grams/tonne gold and 1.17 grams/tonne silver, and 1.1 metres from 292.9 metres @ 2.35 grams/tonne gold and 1.27 grams/tonne silver. The other hole returned 2.6 metres from 164.6 metres @ 0.9 grams/tonne gold and 1.2 grams/tonne silver, and 40 metres from 525.7 metres @ 0.51 grams/tonne gold and 0.9 grams/tonne silver, including 3.1 metres from 553.9 metres @ 1.04 grams/tonne gold and 1.6 grams/tonne silver.
To date, several broad zones of 100 metres @ 1 gram/tonne gold and silver, and significant high grade intersections 3 to 9 metres @ 15-60 grams/tonne of gold and silver have encouraged the exploration team. Results to date demonstrate that WKP as a whole represents a very large gold mineralized system.
The planned 2400-metre drilling program focuses on testing the under-explored EG structure along strike and up and down dip. The 2013 work is budgeted at Can$2.3 million and will include maiden resource estimates.
Glass Earth’s CEO Simon Henderson says, “WKP continues to demonstrate enticing targets and higher grade intersections within the envelope of current drilled zones.”
WKP is a 35:65 joint venture with Newmont Mining, just 10km from Newmont’s Martha gold mine at Waihi, and 5km northeast of the Golden Cross deposit. WKP has magnetic and alteration characteristics similar to Martha’s epithermal system with open-along-strike potential of at least 1-2km.
