KYRGYZ REPUBLIC - Gold Fields to review Talas project

Gold Fields Limited has appointed Jefferies International to undertake a review of potential strategic alternatives at its Talas Copper-Gold Project in Kyrgyzstan. The company’s wholly-owned subsidiary Gold Fields Orogen says the review will examine and consider opportunities available to the company with the objective of further enhancing shareholder value.  1

KYRGYZ REPUBLIC - Kumtor re-opens after protests

Centerra Gold reports that on June 1 road access to the Kumtor Gold Mine was re-established and national grid power to the site was restored. The mine and mill have resumed operations as truck convoys are now able to bring supplies and consumables to site and personnel can be moved to and from the mine.  1

A bankable feasibility study (BFS) for Manas Resources’ Shambesai Gold Project has confirmed the original concept of the April 2012 definitive feasibility study (DFS) which demonstrated the project as a low‐cost, high‐margin project that is technically simple and which can be commissioned in a relatively short timeframe for a low capital cost.  1
