Assay results have been received from the second phase of exploration for the semi-detailed geological mapping, float rock chip samples, outcrops via rock chip sampling and trenching within Western Mining Network’s Persada tenement. Two prospective blocks were identified for additional exploration follow up - one of about 480 hectares and another of about 450 hectares.
The second phase of exploration has been undertaken as a follow up to previous stream sediment exploration conducted in May 2013 which revealed gold anomalies.
Persada is northeast of Palu in Central Sulawesi, between Toli-toli and Buol. It is about 50km east of Toli-toli and covers 5000 hectares. There is an existing access road to the tenement via Lakea village road, west of the Buol-Toli-toli highway.
Several rock chip samples taken from either in situ outcrops or float were collected during geological mapping. A total of 16 selected samples were used for assay and 4 samples were used for petrographic analyses of the mineralization and alteration.
The highest gold content is from a float sample at 1.58 grams/tonne, followed by an outcrop sample at 0.32 grams/tonne. The gold coincides with high arsenic in both samples.
Ongoing exploration at Persada will include: topographic & grid mapping; grid pattern soil sampling using the MMI method for analysis; detailed geological mapping & sampling; petrography & mineragraphy analysis; and assay.
Western Manganese was incorporated on June 4, 2010 for the purpose of acquiring resource based projects, primarily in Indonesia. The company is now named Western Mining. It holds the rights to two promising manganese exploration tenements near Atembua in West Timor, an area regarded as an emerging manganese province. The two tenements cover an area of 4258 hectares. Both tenements are within 30km of Atapupu harbour.
Three of the company’s directors are based in Jakarta. Due to its Indonesian presence, members of the Board are regularly introduced to iron ore, coal, base metals and gold projects. Western Mining is also aggressively pursuing all projects that have economic potential.
