Manas Resources has reported trenching and drilling results at the Ulugtau prospect on its Djilginsai licence, which lies about 40km from Manas’s Shambesai Gold Project.
High-grade trench results of 7 metres @ 5.27 grams/tonne gold, including 3 metres @ 10 grams/tonne gold, and 6 metres @ 10.35 grams/tonne gold, including 3 metres @ 18.7 grams/tonne gold, were returned from trenches to assist with interpreting orientation of mineralization identified by previous drilling, which included 10.8 metres @ 13.23 grams/tonne gold from 29.2 metres.
Significant grade has been found on surface in strongly altered silica within siltstones and sandstones between the two new trenches and the 2009 drill hole over a 200-metre strike length.
A small program of follow-up drilling after trenching was completed returned no significant results, but showed mineralization at perpendicular orientation and in a different setting to the Shambesai-Obdilla model. Follow-up mapping will be undertaken to ensure the next phase of drilling will properly test the mineralized zone. Drilling is nearing completion at the Obdilla prospect, 7km from Shambesai and a drilling program is scheduled to commence at Shambesai later this quarter.
