Augur Resources is continuing a scoping study for the Randu Kuning porphyry deposit within the Wonogiri Gold-Copper Project in central Java. Further modelling of advanced exploration targets at the project is under way.  1

Detailed exploration by the company has defined the Randu Kuning deposit, which contains 1.54 million gold equivalent ounces. The asset remains open at depth and to the east and south.

Further advanced targets have been identified at the Wonogiri project which is 80%-owned by Augur with PT Oxindo, an MMG Ltd subsidiary, holding 10% and four shareholders controlling the remaining 10%.

Wonogiri is one of the latest major discoveries in the highly mineralized Indonesian archipelago. Between 2009 and 2012, modern exploration techniques have been applied to define a highly altered wall rock porphyry gold-copper deposit at Randu Kuning. In July 2012, Augur announced the maiden JORC-compliant resource of 90.9 million tonnes at 0.53 grams/tonne gold equivalent (0.35 grams/tonne gold and 0.10% copper), using a cut-off of 0.2 grams/tonne gold equivalent.

Mineralization remains open with significant potential at depth and to the east. Resource estimates includes oxide, transition and sulphide deposit components. The sulphide accounts for 95.7% of the estimated resource and has been the focus of the majority of ongoing metallurgical studies.

Wonogiri enjoys quality infrastructure support being about 30km south of the Javanese provincial city of Solo and with easily access to the capital Jakarta. The surrounding area has grid power, a large dam and numerous rivers and streams. Metallurgical testing has revealed favourable recoveries of more than 89% gold and 95% copper.

Concentrates up to 90.6 grams/tonne gold and 21.2% copper have been achieved during initial optimization studies. Lower head grade material (with gold grades of 0.62 grams/tonne and copper at 0.19%) also returned favourable results with recoveries of 90.1% for gold and 93.8% for copper. Testing also indicates the optimum grind size is approximately 106 micrometres with gold recovery of 90.1% achieved and copper recovery of 93.8%.

Finer grinding resulted in no change to the gold recovery while the surface area above Randu Kuning has no forestry restrictions. Randu Kuning is also only one of a number of gold and copper prospects at Wonogiri.
