KAZAKHSTAN - Frontier lists on local exchange

Shares in copper miner Frontier Mining began trading on the Kazakhstan Stock Exchange (KASE) last Friday. The UK-based company is now one of 79 companies on the exchange, with a collective market cap figure of around US$32 billion.

KAZAKHSTAN - Frontier’s Benkala mine now self-sufficient

Frontier Mining says a steady improvement in the performance of its Benkala copper mine in Kazakhstan means it is now covering production costs and overheads. It is the first time in Frontier’s history that copper production has generated sufficient cash that allows self-sufficiency of operations.  1

KAZAKHSTAN - World Wide initiates arbitration

World Wide Minerals (WWM), a Canadian natural resource developer, has, together with its president and CEO Paul A Carroll, a citizen and resident of Canada, initiated arbitration proceedings against the Republic of Kazakhstan under the 1989 Agreement between the Government of Canada and the Government of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics for the Promotion and Reciprocal Protection of Investments (the Canada/USSR BIT).
