Weir Minerals Multiflo (WMM) has exhibited for the first time at the Mining Vietnam expo. The global dewatering specialists made the decision to exhibit at the 2012 forum due to the company’s rapid expansion in the Asia Pacific region.

“The demand for and interest in WMM’s suite of dewatering solutions in Asia and more recently Vietnam has increased exponentially in the last 12 months,” says the company’s managing director Paul Avey.

He says WWM was excited to be showcasing its entire product portfolio at Mining Vietnam, which was held from March 7-9 at the International Centre for Exhibition in Hanoi.

The company’s Asia-Pacific manager David Walters says WMM already supplies many of Asia’s biggest mineral regions including Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Thailand and Laos as well as Russia and South America. “The Vietnamese market is particularly interested in our ability to provide end-to-end global support as well as a sustainable service and back up process.”

He says the local industry is recognizing the million dollar costs involved in even short-term flooding, and investigating crucial dewatering solutions.

“There is a complex science behind keeping mines dry. It’s not a case of simply supplying a pump unit, a good dry water specialist will also help you improve productivity which is where WMM stands out,” said David Walters.

The company told delegates at the expo it delivers custom-designed and purpose-built open cut mine dewatering pump systems, dewatering pontoons and a proprietary fuel-filling system for mining, transportation, milling and processing and waste management activities.

WWM is a business unit within Weir Minerals Australia which specializes in delivering and supporting a wide range of slurry equipment solutions. Self-priming submersible and centrifugal pumps, fuel valves, hydrocyclones and wear-resistant linings are among its product catalogue.
