Austmine and Trade & Investment Queensland will host the 12th ‘Mining World Russia’ exhibition in Moscow from April 24-26, giving Australian member companies the opportunity to showcase their products and services to international mining communities.
Mining World Russia 2012 will be held from April 24-26.
Russia remains one of the world’s largest mineral producers, accounting for 20% of the nickel and cobalt production, 5-7% of coal and iron ore production as well as a large share of the non-ferrous and rare earth metals, platinum group metals, diamonds, apatite and potassium salt output. It also contains significant reserves of nickel, gold, silver, platinum group metals and diamonds.
“Intierra Resource Intelligence, the world’s leading supplier of business intelligence to the mineral resources sector, revealed that Russian companies have reached US$550 billion in foreign mining interests held,” said Austmine’s executive officer Robert Trzebski. “The mining industry is strategically essential and is one of the most important industries in the Russian economy.”
Intierra’s research shows Russian-held resources at operating mines are in the vicinity of US$325 billion, whilst new deposits are worth US$225 billion.
Robert Trzebski says there is ongoing modernization of the existing mining industry and refining companies as well as a comprehensive effort to prospect for new mineral deposits. He says there are excellent business opportunities for mining suppliers to optimize mineral production as a key goal for Russia’s economic development. The market for mining equipment, technology and services is rapidly expanding in correlation with the local operations’ goal of cost-efficiency, productivity and safety.
“Russian mining companies are aware of the Australian expertise but have limited direct exposure to Australian mining technologies and services,” he says.
Industrea, Micromine, Mine Site Technologies, Russell Mineral Equipment, Xstrata Technology, Scantech and Austin Engineering have signed on to be part of the 2012 trade show.
