A major annual mining executive banquet will coincide with the MINExpo International 2012 at Las Vegas, Nevada from September 24-26. The 25th National Mining Hall of Fame and Museum (NMHFM) Induction Banquet will honour the men and women who have achieved lasting greatness in mining and natural resources.
The dinner will feature the induction of nominees into the Hall of Fame, which has 214 prior inductees, and the announcement of this year’s Prazen Award for an individual or organization that has been instrumental in educating the public about the importance of mining.
The only federally chartered mining museum in the United States, the NMHFM is marking its silver anniversary with a major fundraising campaign. The proceeds will be used to continue the NMHFM’s mission to preserve, share and honour the story of mining’s importance to America. It boasts one of the most comprehensive mineral, mining equipment and memorabilia collections in North America.
MINExpo International is held every four years and is regarded as the world’s largest mining exhibition. The 2012 event is expected to be the biggest ever, on the back of a multi-year global mining boom, with up to 40,000 people attending from 100 countries.
About 1400 exhibitors will take up positions in the Las Vegas Convention Centre to display the latest in global mining equipment, technology and services.
