Alhambra Resources says two new gold zones have been discovered at its Dombraly deposit within the massive Uzboy project in north central Kazakhstan. Results from the 2011 core drilling program confirm the zones host higher grade gold mineralization than previously discovered. The company says the drill holes have also extended at least five known areas of gold mineralization in the north and south regions of the deposit.  1

One of the new zones is a northern extension of the hanging wall mineralized lens 1 with a grade of up to 9.95 grams/tonne gold over 1.5 metres. The second zone consists of two new foot wall zones that are below the main mineralized zone with maximum grades of 1.66 grams/tonne gold over 8.2 metres and 1.18 grams/tonne gold over 4 metres.

The best mineralized intersections from the known zones are 17.29 grams/tonne gold over 3.9 metres, 4.40 grams/tonne gold over 14.1 metres and 3.57 grams/tonne gold over 14.7 metres.

“These drill results continue to support our interpretation that the gold mineralization at Dombraly has the potential to increase significantly,” says Alhambra’s chairman John J Komarnicki. “In our opinion, the discovery of these new zones of gold mineralization combined with the significant extension of previously known mineralization supports an initial 2012 Dombraly exploration program of seven core drill holes which will be focused on further defining the upside potential of Dombraly.”

In February Alhambra announced a maiden NI 43-101 resource estimate at the deposit of 301,000 inferred ounces of gold contained in 9.3 million tonnes @ 1.01 grams/tonne gold. This estimate did not include the results from this drill program.

The 2011 drilling consisted of 32 core holes for 5528 metres of which 28 core holes for 4938 metres were drilled in the central part of Dombraly and 4 scout holes for 590 metres were drilled beyond its southern edge, southward of the low grade stockpile.

The objective of the 28 core hole drilling program was to allow further re-classification of historical Soviet resources ultimately leading to an updated NI 43-101 compliant resource estimate and to further define the extent and continuity of the gold mineralization at the deposit.

Dombraly is one of the company’s 2012 drilling targets at the 2.4 million acre Uzboy project. The former producing open pit gold mine is about 90km southeast of the Uzboy gold deposit and 60km north of the city of Stepnagorsk which serves as Alhambra’s Kazakhstan operating base.
