MALAYSIA - Monument appoints new executive team

Canadian-based Monument Mining has appointed a new chief operating officer to its executive team to focus on developing the company’s Malaysian assets. Todd Dahlman is a mining industry veteran with 25 years’ experience across technical, engineering, maintenance and mine operations for companies including Rio Tinto, Freeport-McMoRan and Shell Canada.

MONGOLIA - Draig increases Ovorhangay target

Draig Resources has increased the overall exploration target of its four Ovorhangay coal licences in central Mongolia to between 30 and 160 million tonnes. The licences, known as Teeg, Nariin Teeg, Khongor and Ergen Usny Khudag-2, are all about 500km south of Ulaanbataar.

MONGOLIA - Erdene begins further Altan Nar drilling

An additional round of drilling at Erdene Resource Development’s Altan Nar gold project in southwest Mongolia is under way, with several new targets to be tested over a 5km strike length. “Results from Altan Nar continue to surpass our expectations with recently completed surveys having identified multiple new drill targets,” says Erdene’s president Peter Akerley.  1

MONGOLIA - Ereeny produces 62% iron grade concentrate

The Ereeny iron project in eastern Mongolia’s Mandalgovi province has demonstrated its processing capabilities by producing a 62% iron concentrate during a process facility study. FeOre Limited commissioned the study to confirm the grade could be achieved through industry standard multi-stage grinding and staged magnetic separation processing.
