Australian mining software provider Micromine has been named ‘Innovator of the Year’ at the 2012 Russian Mining Excellence Awards. Online public voting and an independent panel assessed Micromine’s mine control and management reporting system Pitram as the best technology product for the mining and exploration sector.
Micromine Russia collaborated with Kinross Gold Corporation on the Kupol project in Russia’s Chutkotka region, installing the country’s first Pitram system at the site. The company developed and implemented the first live underground mine control system to cover a number of aspects of the project including material movements and grade control to equipment monitoring. The Pitram system also captures all production data and centralizes control over mining conditions and employee safety.
Micromine Russia’s regional manager Boris Kurtsev says, “We are really privileged to have been selected to work with Kinross Gold on such a unique and rewarding project. After examining the outcomes, it is clear that our implementation of Pitram at the Kupol site was a resounding success.”
This is the sixth year the Russian Mining Excellence Awards have been held, with the aim of boosting competitive spirit and promoting the best achievements within the sector.
Micromine has been established in Russia since 2001 and opened its Moscow office in 2007. During the 2011/12 financial year its revenue grew by 120%, leading the way for mining and exploration software systems.
The company services customers across 90 countries, providing intuitive software solutions for the entire mining process.
