Mongolian-focused coking coal explorer Aspire Mining has appointed a chief financial officer and general manager of operations.
Phil Rundell will take on the role of chief financial officer in addition to his current role as company secretary while Fergus Campbell is now general manager, operations.
Phil Rundell has more than 30 years experience as a chartered accountant. He was a partner at Coopers and Lybrand (now PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP) and a director at Ferrier Hodgson.
Fergus Campbell is a mining engineer with more than 20 years experience in mine and project management. He has held positions with Straits Resources and HWE Mining, a subsidiary of Leighton Holdings, with particular emphasis on iron ore and new coal mine development.
While a project manager with PT Darma Henwa, Fergus Campbell managed the development and construction of the Bengalon Coal Project in East Kalimantan, taking it to an annual production rate of 6 million tonnes within 22 months of mobilization.
Aspire's managing director David Paull says the key appointments will bolster the company considerably as it enters an exciting growth phase bringing its owned Ovoot Coking Coal Project in northern Mongolia into production.
