PRODUCT NEWS – New Geobank version

Micromine has launched a new version of its geological data management solution, Geobank (formerly known as GBIS), and its field data capture solution Field Marshal 2011.

Geobank features a range of new user benefits and improved, intuitive functionality. These include advanced configuration manager and user profiles, improvements to Sample Tracker, and a new streamlined User Interface. Enhancements have also been made to security and graphical reporting.

SOLOMON ISLANDS - Gold Ridge production imminent

Allied Gold is commissioning the refurbished processing plant at its Gold Ridge project in the Solomon Islands with first gold expected early this month. The plant is expected to annually produce 120,000 ounces of gold.

All major project construction and refurbishment activities associated with the $150 million redevelopment have been completed. Mining activities began in October from the Valehaichichi pit and more than 200,000 tonnes of ore has been stockpiled in advance of milling and processing activities.1

SOUTH KOREA - Woulfe transaction advances

Korea Zinc has completed its initial phase of due diligence and is satisfied with the data supplied by Woulfe Mining in relation to a strategic partner transaction covering Woulfe's South Korean prospects. It now wishes to progress the transaction.

The proposed investment will see Korea Zinc invest Can$38 million to receive a 51% stake in the subsidiary which holds the Sangdong tungsten/molybdenum project and Can$1.8 million into Muguk Gold Corporation to acquire 51% of that project.
