Operator safety, comfort and convenience have been boosted on the Cat D9T track-type tractor. It is the global leader in its size class, with a reputation for optimal operator comfort and robust operating reliability. Cat says new features of the popular tractor include refined performance and increased productivity as well as enhanced operator safety.

The tractor’s main new safety feature is a Dynamic Inclination Monitor which provides readouts of the vehicle’s pitch angle and side-to-side slope. A new operator-presence system will also lock out the power train and hydraulic system to avoid unintentional machine movement when the operator leaves or enters the cab assisted by redesigned steps, handles and guardrails.

Cat can fit a new visibility package which includes mirrors on the lift cylinders and a mounted camera and monitor system near the rear view mirror for optimal reverse visibility.

The D9T cab now features a low-effort electronic control handle that gives the operator one-handed control of the dozer functions. Comfort features including adjustable arm rests and automatic climate control as well as the comfort series seat are standard, with the option of seat ventilation and heating.

The in-cab noise levels for operators have been reduced from 79 to 77 dB, while a new dash display, ipod/MP3 wiring and window shades offer more convenience.

New optional features such as the Automatic Ripper Control system simplifies the operator’s job by keeping drawbar load constant and minimizing track slip. In addition to this, an Automated Blade Assist system automatically adjusts blade load during the carry segment.

A new Enhanced Auto Shift System (EAS) provides the operator with selectable forward and reverse speeds similar to an automatic transmission which also increases fuel efficiency. While the tractor’s new 'Ok-to-Start' system electronically checks powertrain, engine coolant and engine oil systems before ignition.

And for serviceability, the VIMS (Vital Information Management System) uses cellular and satellite networks to monitor the D9T’s healthy and working status and provide machine history for analysis.
