The first shipment of 61 tonnes of copper cathodes from Finders Resources’ Wetar Copper Project in Indonesia has exceeded LME A Grade Copper Cathode specifications. For Finders and its Indonesian partner PT Batutua Kharisma Permai, the shipment marks another key milestone for development of the Wetar project.
Assay reports received from Copper Refineries, Townsville , Queensland , for each of the three lots in the first shipment had very low impurities and this comfortably meets the quality standard for LME A grade copper. Cathode of this quality may attract a premium price from buyers, especially in Asia . The Wetar demonstration plant and test leaching operation continue to perform above expectations. Finders’ Indonesian-based managing director Chris Farmer says, “The key for any project is to produce a saleable product and these assays confirm that our cathode quality is very good. “This is especially comforting since the assayed cathode is from our first batch of test production and drawn from the ramp-up phase when most quality issues are likely to eventuate.†www.findersresources.com
