Continuing strong drilling results from Robust Resources’ Lakuwahi caldera prospect on Romang Island in Indonesia have prompted the company to accelerate and extend its exploration program on the island. An additional diamond rig is to be purchased and an increased budget for the second half of the year is being formulated to provide for a full year drilling program of 5000 metres.
Positive results have been received for a further two diamond holes at Lakuwahi. One hole intersected a 20 metre gold zone from 20.75 metres down hole. The zone has a gold grade of 1.02 grams/tonne plus a coincident silver grade of 99.2 grams/tonne (2.46g/t gold equivalent). The intercept is significant in that it now confirms a northeast/southwest strike direction of more than 200 metres for this identified precious metal zone. The zone remains open in all directions. Another hole intersected 9.65 metres @ 0.55 grams/tonne gold and 47 grams/tonne silver from 20.5 metres including 2 metres @ 1.15 grams/tonne gold plus 46 grams/tonne silver from 22.5 metres. Both holes intersected wide base metal zones in addition to the strong gold and silver values. In the latter a 75.3 metre wide intercept of 0.75% lead from 19.75 metres occurs. A combined lead/zinc zone also occurs over a 47.3 metre width from 47.75 metres grading 1.01% zinc + 0.79% lead (1.80% lead/zinc combined). Several internal, higher-grade zones exist within the main zone. Robust has now completed 969.5 metres of diamond drilling on the large caldera-hosted Lakuwahi gold-silver-base metal prospect and is on track to complete its 2500 metre program by June this year. The gold-silver mineralization is open in all directions and further drilling is required to continue the exploration of this exciting discovery. The latest results confirm the large precious and base metal resource potential indicated from earlier Robust drilling and from previous drilling by Billiton between 1997 and 1999 with 80% of the holes drilled by Billiton and Robust containing significant gold, silver, zinc, lead and copper mineralization. Robust is continuing its Romang exploration program with two owner-operated NQ Core diamond drilling rigs, which allow for economical and flexible operations. The third rig is to be added as soon as is practicable. A team of 5 geologists (2 expatriate and 3 local) are actively mapping and sampling the caldera as part of ongoing target generation. www.robustresources.com.au
