CAMBODIA – Drilling begins at Anchor gold prospect

The first round of reverse circulation (RC) drilling has started at Southern Gold’s Anchor gold prospect in Cambodia .

Anchor is the company’s second Cambodian prospect to be drilled and follows an RC campaign at the Kratie North gold and base metals project.

The 10-hole, 500 metre program is designed to target the source of significant gold trench intercepts at Anchor, which is part of the Snoul project, northeast of Phnom Penh .

Eight trenches have been excavated and sampled on a 1.2km gold and arsenic soil anomaly for a total of about 1500 metres of trenching. Significant gold trench intercepts include 8 metres @ 2.8 grams/tonne and 20 metres @ 0.4 grams/tonne; 36 metres @ 0.2 grams/tonne and 16 metres @ 0.8 grams/tonne; 7 metres @ 0.8 grams/tonne and 6 metres @ 0.5 grams/tonne; and 8 metres @ 0.6 grams/tonne.

Anomalous silver results were occasionally associated with anomalous gold. Best result was 4 metres @ 10.5 grams/tonne silver, which was associated with a 4.4 grams/tonne gold result.

Ten angled RC drill holes totalling 500 metres have been planned to test the anomalous results received from the first trenches excavated on the Snoul tenement. Six angle over-lap RC holes have been planned to test the central trench, with four holes planned on the southern trench.

Earlier this month, Southern Gold conducted an initial RC drilling campaign at the Kratie North gold and base metals project in joint venture with the Japanese Government-backed JOGMEC.

Reporting of drill results from both campaigns is expected to begin next month.
