  • INVESTMENT - $192 million for Olaroz lithium project

    Joint venture partners Orocobre and Toyota Tsusho Corporation have closed a $192 million debt financing deal with Mizuho Corporate Bank to fund construction of the Olaroz lithium project. The loan has completed the financing plan to complete the project in Jujuy province of northern Argentina.

  • INVESTMENT - Ansteel increases Karara stake

    Gindalbie Metals’ joint venture partner Ansteel has exercised its right to convert two shareholder loans of Aus$60 million in total to new shares in Karara Mining Limited (KML). This results in Ansteel increasing its ownership of KML from 50% to 52.16%, with Gindalbie owning 47.84%.

  • INVESTMENT - DPM secures Chinese pyrite contract

    Canadian-based Dundee Precious Metals (DPM) has secured a major supply contract with China’s Xiangguang Copper (XGC), for up to 200,000 tonnes of pyrite concentrate annually from its Chelopech mine in Bulgaria.

  • INVESTMENT - Forrest funds for EMA

    Energy and Minerals Australia Limited (EMA) has entered into a binding term sheet with Forrest Family Investments, an Andrew Forrest entity within the Minderoo Group, to raise $12 million by way of an equity capital raising.

  • INVESTMENT - Gale stakes claim in Paramount

    Asian equity sub-fund Gale 3 Spl has become a major shareholder in Paramount Mining Corporation, purchasing 8.73% of the company which is equal to 27.7 million shares.

  • INVESTMENT - Kores to fund MMB

    Korea Resources Corporation (KORES) will provide the phase two funding requirement to Minera y Metalúrgica del Boleo, SAPI de CV (MMB) on behalf of TSX-listed Baja Mining. MMB owns a 26.2% interest in the Boleo copper-cobalt-zinc-manganese project in Baja California Sur, Mexico. The project is under construction.

  • INVESTMENT - Minotaur and partners step up Arthurville exploration

    Minotaur Exploration and joint venture partners Mitsubishi Materials Corporation (MMC) and Mitsubishi Corporation (MC) will spend $557,000 this year on exploration activities at the Arthurville Copper-Gold Project in central western New South Wales, Australia.

  • INVESTMENT - Northern Minerals secures drill funding

    Australia Conglin International Investment Group (ACIIG) has provided interim funding of $4 million to Northern Minerals which will enable a major resource expansion drill program to commence at Browns Range next month.

  • INVESTMENT - Platina secures Chinese support

    Platina Resources has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Chinese manufacturer Inner Mongolia Honfine Zirconium Industry Co Ltd to negotiate an offtake agreement and a supply, technology, processing and marketing agreement for the Owendale Scandium Project in central New South Wales.

  • INVESTMENT - Platina signs second scandium HoA

    Platina Resources has signed a Heads of Agreement (HoA) with Hunan Oriental Scandium Co Ltd (HNOSC), the largest Chinese manufacturer and processor of scandium. The HoA enables the companies to negotiate an offtake agreement as well as a supply, technology, processing and marketing agreement for the Owendale Scandium Project in central New South Wales.

  • INVESTMENT - Survey names world’s best jurisdictions

    The Fraser Institute has listed Finland, Sweden and Canadian provinces Alberta and New Brunswick as the world’s top locations for mining investment. The annual global survey of mining executives ranked Finland second overall in the 2012 poll, however the Nordic nation has usurped New Brunswick this year to top the list of 96 mining locations.

  • INVESTMENT - TNG gains POSCO backing

    TNG Limited has signed a wide-ranging three-way Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with major Korean conglomerate POSCO Engineering & Construction and TNG’s metallurgical consultants METS, for construction and delivery of the Mount Peake Vanadium-Titanium-Iron Project in Australia’s Northern Territory.

  • INVESTMENT - TNG reaches agreement on hematite

    TNG Limited has reached agreement with privately-owned Chinese resource company Teng Fei Mining Ltd to enter into a new venture covering the Legune high-grade hematite prospect on its Manbarrum Zinc-Silver Project in Australia’s Northern Territory.

  • INVESTMENT - Victory to Invest in Besra

    Besra has signed an agreement for an investment by Victory Corporation Group of Switzerland which would see Victory purchase 250 million common shares in Besra Gold for net proceeds of US$14.25 million.

  • INVESTMENT - Western Areas secures new offtake with Jinchuan

    Western Areas has re-negotiated an offtake agreement with China’s largest nickel company Jinchuan Group for up to 26,000 tonnes of nickel-in-concentrate during the next two years.

  • INVESTMENT - Western Areas signs strategic alliance with Jinchuan

    Australian based nickel sulphide explorer Western Areas has signed a strategic non-exclusive alliance with China’s largest nickel company Jinchuan Group. The partnership will see the two companies cooperate in the consideration and possible development of global mining opportunities involving the exploration, development and operation of base metal projects.

  • INVESTMENT – Cauldron Secures Chinese Funds

    Cauldron Energy has secured a total of Aus$11 million in funding via a series of share placement agreements with a range of Chinese investors. The funds will be applied to resource definition work at the Yanrey Uranium Project in Western Australia and for exploration at the company’s projects in South Australia and Argentina.

  • INVESTMENT – Chinese backing for Metallica project

    Metallica Minerals has executed a joint venture agreement with a private Chinese investor to provide Aus$7.5 million to develop the Urquhart Point Mineral Sands Project. The funds will also enable Metallica to explore for other Heavy Mineral Sands (HMS) and bauxite deposits on its tenements on the western side of Queensland’s Cape York Peninsula.

  • PHILIPPINES - St Augustine welcomes new investment

    St Augustine Gold & Copper has welcomed a US$961,125 funding boost from its strategic Philippine partner Queensberry Mining, after the company exercised a portion of the warrants it purchased during a private placement last year. The funds will assist St Augustine’s exploration efforts at the King-king project on Mindanao Island.
